For all of January, Living Contentment became The 2024 Contentment Challenge. The regular- something to: read | do | pray newsletters were replaced with shorter, more actionable Challenges. In case you missed any of them, they were: So What? The contentment challenges over this past month were intended to help give us some real, tangible, actionable ways to allow contentment into our lives. I think deep, true contentment is much like so many of the other good things that God has for us. They are gifts, but we need to be ready to receive them. That can look different for different people at different times. Maybe we need to just take stock of the good we have already been given. Maybe we need to cut out so many of the negative thoughts about how we don’t have what we need. Maybe we need to make room by stopping something else. Maybe we need to be more intentional about truly beliving with our actions as well as our thoughts – that God is good. I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well-fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
